Compassion in Action 831 Inc is honored to support our next recipient, Silvia Rivas.

At 61 years old, Silvia is facing one of the most difficult battles of her life. She has been diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney cancer, which spread to her leg after an injury and led to a serious infection reaching her bone marrow — making an already hard fight even more complex.

Silvia recently completed her latest radiation treatment on September 13, 2026, and continues chemotherapy every Thursday. These treatments are essential, but they've taken a heavy toll on her body, her energy, and her day-to-day life.

Before her diagnosis, Silvia worked at the Soledad CAPSL Center and was known for her warm spirit and love of dancing — she embraced life fully, moving, laughing, and enjoying every moment she could. For more than two years now, her illness and treatment have kept her from working and from many of the things that once brought her joy.

Through it all, Silvia has not faced this alone. Her partner and his daughters have stood by her side, doing everything they can to support and care for her. But the physical, emotional, and financial weight of long-term treatment is heavy, and now Silvia and her family need the strength of their community more than ever.
